Executive Board Positions

Executive Vice President

Elected Officer
Estimated Commitment: 2 hours/month + monthly meetings

Serves as the primary aide to the President and helps provide leadership for the PTSA. Performs the duties of the President in their absence and works closely with officers and committee chairs to support programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the President in carrying out PTSA goals and programs.
  • Attend monthly Executive Board meetings and quarterly Association meetings.
  • Coordinate and support committee chairs as needed.
  • Assist with leadership transition and officer onboarding.

Parliamentarian

Appointed Position
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month + monthly meetings

Serves as an advisor to the President on PTA bylaws and meeting procedures to ensure meetings are conducted fairly and in accordance with parliamentary rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise the President on parliamentary procedure during meetings.
  • Review unit bylaws annually and recommend updates when needed.
  • Arrange and conduct the first meeting of the Nominating Committee.
  • Help maintain compliance with PTSA bylaws and standing rules.

Teacher Representative

Board Position
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month + monthly meetings

Acts as a crucial bridge between the PTSA and Gunderson educators, providing staff input on PTSA initiatives and keeping the faculty informed about upcoming community opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
  • Attends monthly Executive Board meetings.
  • Provides teacher and staff perspective on programs and activities.
  • Strengthens collaboration between the PTSA and school staff.
Committee Chair Positions

Fundraising Committee Chair

Committee Chair
Estimated Commitment: 1-2 hours/month + monthly meetings

Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of PTSA fundraising campaigns designed to hit our annual funding goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop fundraising event recommendations for board consideration.
  • Organize and oversee approved fundraising campaigns.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with activities.
  • Coordinate financial procedures closely with the Treasurer.

Senior Scholarships Chair

Committee Chair
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month (Active Jan – May)

Manages the annual Gunderson PTSA scholarship program, playing a direct role in celebrating and supporting graduating seniors moving on to higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate scholarship applications, marketing, and timelines.
  • Recruit application reviewers approved by the board.
  • Organize the blind review and selection process fairly.
  • Coordinate scholarship recognition activities and communication with winners.

Staff Appreciation Chair

Committee Chair
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month + monthly meetings

Brings joy to our school staff by planning structured appreciation touchpoints throughout the year, culminating in Staff Appreciation Week.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan framework events (September Snack Cart, December Holidays, March Luncheon).
  • Organize dynamic Teacher Appreciation Week activities in May.
  • Recruit volunteers and track donated items from the community.

Social Media Chair

Committee Chair
Estimated Commitment: ~30 mins/week + monthly meetings

Keeps the digital Grizzly community engaged, informed, and connected by managing the official PTSA social channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and post regularly to PTSA social media accounts.
  • Promote community meetings, events, and emergency volunteer calls.
  • Ensure online content strictly aligns with PTSA purposes and school policies.

Nominating Committee

Committee Member
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month (Active Jan – Mar)

Helps shape the future of the Gunderson PTSA by identifying and recruiting qualified leadership candidates for the next school year.

Responsibilities:

  • Seek community recommendations and identify potential leadership candidates.
  • Prepare and present the official slate of nominees to the board.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality throughout the recruitment process.
Student Representatives

Grade-Level Student Representatives

Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, & Senior Slots Open
Estimated Commitment: 1 hour/month + quarterly association meetings

Brings crucial student voice and contemporary campus perspective to our decision-making. Student reps ensure that PTSA funds and activities directly benefit the student body.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend quarterly General Association meetings as active participants.
  • Attend select Executive Board meetings when topics directly impact the student body.
  • Provide honest student feedback, project suggestions, and school spirit ideas.
  • Help spread the word about PTSA events and scholarship access to classmates.
